Travel Delays?

Traveling This Spring? If Your Trip is Delayed Remember to Extend Your Travel Insurance.  Traveling outside the province or outside the Country ensure that your Travel insurance is extended if your trip is extended.

Recently, Doug travelled to Ontario to visit his son.  Although Doug was retired he had 10 days to visit his son before he had to return to B.C.  Doug had purchased travel insurance to cover the time when he would be out of the province.  Doug had not seen his son in a year and was looking forward to spending some time with him.  Although his son was working some days, he would have plenty of days off to go boating and  fishing,  and his son had even talked to him about some special places that they would both enjoy.

Unfortunately, on the third  day of the visit, Doug's son was injured very seriously n an industrial accident at his job.  The accident required that Doug's some undergo emergency surgery.  After the surgery, which was successful, Doug's son would need 24 hour care and follow up treatment would be determined when he had recovered from his first surgery.  With the shock of the accident, Doug could only concentrate on his son's recovery.  Fortunately, although it would be a long recovery, the prognosis was positive.  Doug called home to check on his house and was advised by his insurance broker that he needed to extend his travel insurance.  This was something, that given the circumstances, Doug had completely forgotten.

This is a reminder that if your travel is delayed beyond the date that you had originally anticipated, that you remember to extend your travel insurance.  You may not be able to get any travel insurance should you travel policy date be exceeded.
